GENERAL SYSTEM NOTES:
Old Scientific Atlanta antennas used potentiometer sensors in all three axis. While RSI used optical encoders in all axis. Now virtually all antennas have resolvers in all axis as they read out directly in degrees.
Control system Upgrades:
We use Research concept controllers. These use resolvers in all three systems. But antennas that used optical encoders and potentiometers for polarity sense would need a high price gear reducer and adapters to use a resolver. The RCI controllers have the ability to still use a "pol pot" for polarity sense.
We have drop in replacements available for the Vertex 7134, Andrew APC-100.
Almost all early AIU's were small and dangerous to work on with many exposed terminals. Our AIU's have full inner doors. No need to open for local controls. The inner workings use terminals hard to touch. Wiring in cable trays. ALL customer connections on the bottom of the enclosure using Euro Style terminals.
We sell our systems as "complete Kits" with installation instructions written for your antenna. Self installation saves a lot of money. We provide support by phone, message, and email. Back against the wall? Onsite engineer is available for $1250/day plus all expenses. To date no station has needed help.
